The Gardener is a sensory vérité documentary about the creative process of a pianist and composer, Julien Brocal. Beginning with a discussion about his improvisational collaboration with the composition, “Reflections”, it soon becomes a conversation about the creative process in our society. The film lingers on the audio of the interview, cutting very little of his original dialogue so as to keep a continuous logic to his thought process. By holding on his thoughts, it allows us to connect with him as he searches for the words to describe his inner emotions.
